Free Parenting Course
There is a free parenting course which runs on Thursday evenings or Tuesday mornings at Kingsland Church above Aldi in Colchester.
The National Parenting Initiative's 'Parenting Teenagers' course runs over five consecutive weeks and covers topical aspects of parenting. You can watch a trailer at www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxQVepD_xnc.
Details of the course running the autumn term are as follows:
Evening Course - The Parenting Teenagers Course
Starting on 20th September and running for 5 weeks until 18th October,
7.30pm until 10pm each Thursday evening
Morning Course - Parenttalk - The Teenage Years
Starting on 2nd October and running for 6 weeks (with a break for half term) until 13th November,
10am to 12.30pm each Tuesday morning
Both courses are suitable for anyone with a teenage or pre-teen child or children and cover a range of topics including setting boundaries, emotional health, identity, helping them to make good choices, and letting go. Each session comprises of video clips and guided discussion time with other parents. A course book is provided to each attendee and refreshments and home-made cake are also on offer each week.
Cost: There is no charge for either of the courses, but a tin will be put out for donations towards the cost of the course materials and refreshments.
